The ride begins at 8:00 am, staging south on College Street. Italy Police will be temporarily diverting traffic on 667 to provide a safe start for riders, After the start group rolls past 667, the Italy PD will release traffic down 34 to resume any additional parking.
Please note that the weather forecast is for very warm weather for this year's ride! Please consider riding a little shorter if you haven't had a chance to acclimate to the heat. Consider riding a distance that you can complete by noon, if you want to play it safe in the heat! Please note that a phone number is printed on your bib number Please call if you require a SAG in or have major mechanical issues. For Major Medical Emergencies, Please dial 911. It really helps for us to have an accurate location when you call for help. Please review this article showing how to share your location, using your smart phone.
Check In:
This year's check-in will be held in the school cafetorium. This is a different location than in prior years. It's located adjacent to the rotunda that was used last year, so it should be easy to find. We've set up a line of construction barriers leading the way to the cafetoruim entrance to help guide the way
START TIME:
Sat June 17, 2023 8:00am
LOCATION:
Italy High School 300 College Street Italy TX 76651
PARKING:
The Primary Parking entrance this year will be off of Hw34 (see picture to right). Big thanks to Italy for making this happen! This will help to eliminate the parking congestion that occurred last year at the High School.
Ride start
All routes have been updated to reflect a new start direction. This year, we will be starting the ride on College street and proceeding south. Police will be directing traffic at the Hwy 667 intersection guiding riders on to Hwy 34, south of the parking traffic. We believe this will make for a much cleaner and safer start to the ride.
MEALS: CASH ONLY!!!
Traditionally, the Italy High School Student organizations provide food offerings as a fundraiser. We're happy to say that this year they will be doing so again!!! Please consider supporting the students that work hard to make the Tour d' Italia a great day!
ROAD CONDITIONS Update
29, 41, 50 mile routes
64 mile route -
A major change this year occurs on the 64 mile route. At appx mile 33 (Hwy 744 and Hwy 667), just past rest stop 3. we will be closing off the 64 mile route at 11:00am. Riders will proceed north on Hwy 667 to Frost and Be supported by Rest stop 5. This means that riders wishing to complete the 64 mile route will need to be mindful of the time. In recent years, the June heat has made it very difficult on riders that are out on the course late in the day. Please help us keep everyone safe by abiding by the direction of ride officials.
Note: No Onsite Registration!!!
There will be NO ONSITE PAPER REGISTRATION!!
We will ONLY be doing check-in at both early pickup and on the day of the ride. Again, there will be no onsite payment or registration on the day of the ride. We will leave our registration site open through the ride start, so you can register using your mobile device at Active.com even on the morning of the ride. Please ensure that you've received your confirmation QR Code before coming in for check-in, where you'll receive your bib number and t-shirt.
Challenge Segments!!!
This year, we'll be creating two Strava Challenge segments!!! Look for the feather signs along the route and give it all ya got!!!! These are for bragging rights only. Remember it's not a race, but that doesn't mean we can't have some friendly competition :) Also remember that safety is paramount. Respect other riders and play your part in being responsible and making his a fun addition.
